Carlington Bike Park What is it? Why do we need it? How you can help!

Opportunity to join a unique community building initiative

The Ottawa Mountain Bike Association (OMBA-AVMO) has become a respected voice for the mountain biking community in Eastern Ontario through advocacy and education. As environmental leaders, and outdoor lifestyle partners, we work with various stakeholders to access and maintain local trails, which are enjoyed by both cyclists and other outdoor enthusiasts. We foster active lifestyles, community engagement and appreciation of the natural environment with a focus on off road cycling. We are seeking partners to help us bring our expertise to an urban green space in Ottawa, which will enable us to increase access to outdoor activities for all.

Fun for all ages

Carlington Bike Park complements existing urban green spaces

The bike park will provide an off road cycling section on a portion of the plateau of the Carlington Park Hill in central Ottawa. It is being professionally designed and built with features that help new and experienced cyclists to build skills. We will work with natural ground features on the trail, as well as add wooden, rock and log structures to create an area that is safe and engaging for both adults and children.

Bike parks builds safe, healthy communities

Bike parks offer progressively more challenging exercises that help people of all ages and abilities build strong bike handling skills, making them stronger and safer riders who will grow to appreciate outdoors and cycling. Safety is at the forefront of the design to ensure riders build skills and progress with minimal risk. With its location on City of Ottawa land, it will be free for users to enjoy and much more accessible to a diverse population than mountain bike trails in the woods. Individuals, youth camps, and clubs will find the bike park to be a fun way to get people of all ages outdoors in an urban environment!

Partner with experienced advocates to build on this community supported initiative

The need for the bike park has been validated by the city of Ottawa, which has committed up to $153,000. We are offering organizations the opportunity to contribute through a match of this government contribution in either funding, donated materials or donated time. The sponsorship support will enable your organization associate with a unique facility for adults and children from different backgrounds to stay healthy and enjoy the outdoors within the city.
