Parent Advisory Team Meeting - Safety Discussion

On Monday, March 2 from 5:00-6:30pm at the ESC, district staff and a School Resource Officer will be presenting school safety information to our Parent Advisory Team. Any parent in our system is welcome to join the group.

Student Breakfast Information Survey

The Student Wellness Committee is seeking parent input on the option of a cold breakfast in schools. Breakfast would be provided through the Taher food service, served during the school day, and follow federal guidelines. A monthly menu would be provided in advance. Please complete this brief survey for each child enrolled in MNSD.

Compass Award Information

Friendly reminder that 2020 Compass nominations are now being accepted. Please consider nominating a deserving staff member! We have been recognizing staff with the Compass since 2008. The purpose is to reinforce and recognize staff who, through their commitments and contributions, ensure that every student is learning, growing and succeeding. Using this FILLABLE PDF FORM, you can honor staff members who meet the designated criteria in the following areas:

  1. Positive impact on students
  2. Positive impact on staff, parents, and/or the community
  3. Commitment to continuous improvement, leadership and/or service
  4. Champion for innovation, creativity, and/or best practice.

The process is easy - complete the form electronically and send it to Jeff Petersen (jeff.petersen@muskegonorway.org) by March 2. Please note that each potential recipient must have a minimum of three nominators and maximum of four. One nomination form may be submitted with three to four nominators' signatures or each nominator may complete a separate nomination form. All nominations are due by Monday, March 2.

2020 Retirements

Join us in congratulating the following staff members who have been approved by the School Board to retire. Collectively, they have put in many years of service to the profession, students, and community and we are thankful for all their commitments. We wish them the very best in their next adventures!

Fear the Spear

It's a great time to be a Warrior! The district is selling black granite tiles that will be placed on the Wall of Fame in front of Inpro stadium. These tiles are customizable with up to three lines and twenty characters per line. It's a great way to remember a former, current, or to-be Warrior. If you are interested in purchasing a tile, you can complete this short form. The 4x4 tiles are $99 and the 8x8 are $475, they will remain on the wall for a life-time! See below for some examples of tiles that have been purchased.

Intra-District Transfer Requests

Thank you to those families who have already made time to submit an intra-district transfer request for the 2020-21 school year. Should your family be interested in a new placement within our district, please complete the form linked here. Realizing we are in the midst of staffing and scheduling decision making for next school year already, the sooner you can submit your request, the better. Beginning May 1, 2020 we will be reaching out to families with decisions about each respective request. Should you have additional questions regarding this process, please email jeff.petersen@muskegonorway.org.
