City Dog Runs San Francisco, ca

Mission Bay Dog Park

My weekday evening regular hangout.

Because I live in Mission Bay this is super convenient. It's ok.

The pros:

  • I get to see my friends because some of us come pretty regularly which means I get SUPER tired and hungry for dinner
  • The walk to the run is also nice because I get to see water and lots of other interesting things like other doggies, kids, people playing basketball and volleyball, bicyclists and lots of people walking - it keeps me busy!
  • The Caltrain
  • There's some AstroTurf which feels nice on my paws
Qai is like my little brother

The cons:

  • It's dusty. Mom usually wipes me down with baby wipes when we get home. At least they cool me off; it's not too bad
  • The majority of the run is pebbles
  • It smells like poo and pee, which means I spend a lot of time stopping to pee on everything
  • It's next to a water treatment plant so it smells in general
  • The Caltrain
  • Some doggies are not nice
  • I think some fur-parents are too over-protective; I'm not mean just because I to howl and bark when I want to play! Humans just don't get us, sometimes, sigh
That's me and Gatsby - he's my buddy

Your fur parents want to know:

  • Yes, there is street side parking (metered)
  • Yes, this is a fenced enclosure
  • Yes, there are doggy (and human) water fountains, although Gatsby and some other Great Danes use the human water fountain, so...
  • Yes, there are poop bags
  • Yes, there are trash bins
  • Yes, there are benches
  • No, there is no separate areas for small dogs
  • No, there are no toilets

Rincon Hill Dog Park

I still prefer the Mission Bay dog park but I like Rincon Hill because it's near:

That means I get to sniff kitties (why don't they want to play when I wag my tail?!), eat treats, sometimes get new gear, too.

I love playing tag.

And this park is definitely big; it's long.

Which is great for play dates and training. Mom used to take me here a lot when I first came home to make sure I knew the basic commands.

Or if you like playing fetch, this is the perfect spot!

Wrestling is my second favorite thing.

And yes, it's dusty here, too.

Look, we're all fluffy!

This park is quieter than Mission Bay Dog Park

For some reason whenever I come here I rarely find new buddies to play with so now we only come here on a play date or after a run on the Embarcadero for a water stop.

My play date with Bidam; he's a Jindo

Your fur parents want to know:

  • Yes, there is street side parking (metered)
  • Yes, there is a separate area for small dogs
  • Yes, this is a fenced enclosure (high fences for us big guys, in fact)
  • Yes, there is a doggy water fountain (but none for the humans)
  • Yes, there are poop bags
  • Yes, there are trash bins (but only outside the run so please don't forget to throw out our poop!)
  • Yes, there are benches
  • No, there are no toilets
