The Harn Musuem Hannah Bauerlein

Medium of the Art / Technique of the Artist

I truly believe that with any work of art, nothing compares to seeing it in person. This photograph/piece of artwork portraying Frida Kahlo was no exception. Because of the enormity of the piece it is almost impossible to overlook. I think the size of this piece is a part of the reason that I found it to be so striking in person. I also thinks that the size of this piece also serves a purpose to represent the large impact that Frida Kahlo had on the art world even as a woman. The piece really makes you stop and appreciate this women who we see so much of.

Design of the Musuem

The exhibit that really appealed to me was the Asian Rock Garden. When walking outside to the garden there is an immediate feeling of serenity that overwhelms you (this also could have been due to the fact that I was one of the only people out there because it was lightly raining). The almost silent noise of the water flowing is extremely peaceful, I feel like I could spend all day out there. The exhibit makes me feel calm and at ease by doing nothing at all.

Art and Core Values

The piece of artwork that I think really appealed to my core values was this picture of three little girls holding hands in a village. One of the things that I really value in life is friendship. I do not think that it would be possible for humans to endure the struggles of life without a friend to help you out along the way. The girls pictured are impoverished but I am sure that when they are together playing their minds are not on the lack of money but simply on the time they are enjoying while spending time with their friends.

Art and the Good Life

I believe that this photo represents how other people celebrate the good life. In many other cultures there are all kinds of celebrations that are also celebrating the good life. There are many different ways that one can celebrate the good life, and one of those ways is by dancing. I think it is safe to say that is it difficult to dance if you are sad; that is why dancing is normally only occurring at celebrations. This photo helped me understand how different people from around the world celebrate their own good life.
