The Tragically Hip Denver Merkley

The Tragically Hip, also known as The Hip, is a Canadian Rock band from Kingston Ontario. The band members include Gordon Downie singer and guitarist since 1983, Rob Baker guitarist since 1983, Paul Langlois guitarist since 1986, Gord Sinclair bass since 1983 and Johnny Fay drums since 1983. The Hip released 14 albums including 54 singles, 9 of those albums went platinum and 2 went diamond.


The band began in 1983 in Kingston Ontario, a group of friends who all loved to play music decided to start a band that one day would become one of the greatest Canadian bands of all time. When all the boys were still in high school they formed the tragically hip, a name inspired by ex-Monkees'. In 1986 they then hit the road playing covers and original songs at bars across Ontario. In this year Paul Langlois also joins the band as a guitarist.
