Ride the CPonies in Tampa Bay from the beach at Sunshine Skyway Bridge's north side STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY ROBERT NEFF

Oct 27, 2017. You can ride the CPonies in St. Petersburg, Florida at the Sunshine Skyway Bridge's north side. There are two locations on the north area, one is on the Gulf side and the other is on Tampa Bay's side. You can enjoy more of the CPonies on Facebook.

This group was on the Gulf side, while another group was out experiencing the water on their legs.
Every ride comes to an end.
The staff is waiting to help you dismount.
A couple days later, this group started by heading out from the mangroves.
Great sightseeing, bird watching, and you may even spot a photographer in the mangroves!
Always time for pics!
Egrets are looking for dinner.
Getting deeper, but not too deep.
Low tide today.
The sandbar offers up close views of the boats heading in and out of the Sunshine Skyway Channel.
Walk around the rookery and see birds on the sandbar and in the mangroves.
This group is close to the beach where the kite boarders launch.

This was a bright and sunny day on the Tampa Bay side.

At low tide, you can go out a quarter mile or more.
Horses do swim.
Sunshine Skyway Bridge is a great backdrop!

My book, Pelican Beakon, earned a silver medal at 2017 Florida Authors and Publishers Association President's Book Award in the short story fiction category. The Pelican Beakon is a newspaper for pelicans, by pelicans, and their one staff human photographer who dreams of being writer. Read more about the Pelican Beakon on its website.
