The Adventure of Theseus By Anand Patel

Theseus was the son of Poseidon and King Augeus of Athens,and Aethra. Since King Augeus had an aggressive brother who wanted to take over Athens after the death of King Augeus.The king did not want him to know Theseus was his son, for that reason Theseus lived with his mother Aethra when he was born and while he was young. Before King Augeus departed for his journey back to Athens he left his sword with his initials carved into it and a pair of shoes under a massive stone. He told Aethra that when she felt that Theseus was old and wise enough she should have him try to remove this rock and if he succeeded his mother should report him to Athens were he will meet his father. At the age of 17, Aethra thought Theseus was ready to meet his father challenge, so she took him to the stone and he removed the massive stone and received the objects under it

During Theseus's journey to Athens he came across many bandits and monsters that tried to take strip him of his life. One of these bandits included Sciron. Sciron was also a son of Poseidon. He was a bandit who threaten make you lifeless unless you offered him your valuables and washed his feet with respect. As you were soaking and cleaning his feet he would kick you straight the edge of a cliff and his pet turtle Molly would eat you up. Because Theseus had heard stories and legends about Sciron he was prepared for this massacre he was getting himself into. In the process he used philosophy and physics and the result was Sciron falling of the cliff instead of Theseus.

When Theseus arrived at Athens he faced many conflicts because his father had no authority and all the citizens of Athens lived in fear from the Pallantides. The Pallantides were groups of guys under the authority of Pallas. Pallas was the brother of Augeus and wanted his brother's throne ever since Augeus first got it. The Pallantides were eager for King Augeus die so that they could battle for the throne. Another conflict was that Crete has rule of Athens and Athenian makes Athens send it's 7 bravest warriors and 7 best people to Crete to go down into the Labyrinth to be eaten by the Minotaur. Crete was ruled by an evil ruler named King Minos who did could careless about the people's lives.

Theseus then went to the places where the Pallantides were staying and Theseus killed all of the Pallantides before they could kill his father. A month after words, the Cretan lottery rolled around and it was time for the 7 men and 7 women to go to Crete. Theseus volunteered himself to go hoping that he could kill the Minotaur. King Augeus was very depressed that Theseus was going, but Theseus promised he would come back alive and when he would he would have the sails white instead of the black color that was usually are when someone dies. Theseus and 13 others went across the sea to Crete.

While in Crete, they were locked up in prison dorms until the next day, but King Minos's daughter Ariadne fell in love with Theseus helped him by giving him a ball of string and told him how to use it and defeat the Minotaur. The very next day Theseus and the 13 other Athenians were thrown into the Labyrinth where the Minotaur was going to eat them. Theseus instructed the others to stay near the door while he went into the Labyrinth to kill the Minotaur. When he found the Minotaur he used Ariadne's strategy and killed the Minotaur.

Theseus and the 13 other Athenians got out of the labyrinth and sailed back to Athens along with Ariadne, Unfortunately, Ariadne was left behind on a small island called Naxos, While Theseus and the 13 other men and women were partying over their victory. During this celebration they forgot to change the color of the sails from Black to White. When King Augeus saw that the sails were black he threw himself off of the highest tower in his palace and died. Theseus then became king of Athens ruled Athens for many years to come because he was the son of King Augeus and was his heir. Theseus ruled Athens for many years and accomplished many things.
