Pierre- Auguste Renoir BY: Sydney Lee

A quote from Renoir- " Why shouldn't art be pretty? There are enough unpleasant things in the world."

Pierre- Auguste Renoir, (commonly known as Auguste Renoir) was a French artist who was a leading painter in the development of the Impressionist stule. He was born on February 25, 1841, Limoges France. And died on December 3, 1919, Cagnes-sur-mur, France. His work is characterized by a richness of feeling and a warmth of response to the world and to the people in it. By the mid 1800s, he had broken with the movement to apply a more disciplined, formal technique to portraits and figure paintings, mostly of women. Renoir was so passionate about painting that he even continued when he was old and suffering from severe arthritis. After that, he painted with the brush tied to his wrists.

My artwork looks like a tropical color forest. The subject matter is to be like a tropical forest with colorful grass and water behind. The title of my work is a tropical color forest. The elements and principles that are most obvious in my work is the color in the grass popping out the most.

The media artwork that I used in my artwork was water color paint. Tools and techniques I used were to draw the trees like palm trees and make it look like colorful grass with water in the background with flower bushes around the palm tree. Most of Pierre's artwork was outside and nature with warmth and happiness.

Pierre- Auguste Renoir inspired me to do this artwork. A lot of his work showed warmth and happiness and nature. The emotions that I showed in my work was happiness by using happy bright colors, and water because usually when your outside near water it makes you feel happy.

My goals as an artist is to try your best at your artwork and try to make it how you want it to look. This piece did help me reach my goals because I tried my best on this piece and I think it turned out the way I wanted it to turn out. I didn't think the colors would turn out the way I wanted them too but they did.

I learned that I can mix and use many different colors to create artwork. This piece is what I imagined because I knew what I wanted it to look like and it turned out the right way. This piece will influence my future artworks because it will make me want to use more colors and different types of media.
