Memphis 75, VANDERBILT 59 TIGERS DEFEAT COMMODORES FOR FIRST TIME IN ALMOST 30 YEARS; SNAPPED EIGHT-GAME SKID AGAINST VANDERBILT

After trailing 4-2 in the first quarter, Memphis produced a 14-0 run to take over the lead and never look back against the Commodores. Vanderbilt was receiving votes in the latest AP Poll.

Cheyenne Creighton finished with a career-high 26 points and career-high 13 rebounds for her fifth straight double-double.

Creighton played in 37 minutes for the Tigers and finished the game going 12-for-18 from the floor with two assists and zero turnovers.

As a team, Memphis committed just 14 turnovers (only four in the second half) while forcing 17 by the Commodores.

Brea Elmore continued her strong play by scoring 18 points with four rebounds, four assists, and four steals.

Elmore went 3-for-5 from long range against the Commodores, making that a team-high 10 three's in the last five games.

In the last five games, Elmore is averaging 16.2 points and over four assists per game.

Breigha Wilder-Cochran matched her season-high with 11 points to be one of three Tigers in double-figures.

Wilder-Cochran finished the game with a season-high four steals while going 2-for-3 from three-point range.

Taylor Williams pulled down seven rebounds and finished with four assists and five points for the Tigers.

Williams went 1-for-3 from three to help contribute to a season-high seven three-pointers for Memphis.

Brianna Porter pulled down seven rebounds (six defensive). Memphis grabbed 45 rebounds as a team, marking a season-high.

Porter also scored five points and had an assist, a steal, and a block.

Memphis has now won four games in a row to close out the non-conference schedule with a 7-6 overall record. The Tigers have Power 5 Conference wins over Illinois and Vanderbilt.

The Tigers return to action on New Years Day against Temple at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. Tip-off against the Owls is at 5 p.m. and the game will be broadcasted on ESPN2.
