ROUGH Endoplasmic Reticulum YAHAIRA MORENO & BREYONCE WILLIAMS

ROUGH Endoplasmic RETICULE um

a website dedicated to a network of tubular membranes.

LOCATION. LOCATION. LOCATION.

This network is located within the cytoplasm of a cell.

  • cytoplasm is like the jello in jello cups, while, the fruit is everything else you'd find in a cell.

Saaaaaaaaay a rough endoplasmic reticulum?

RER'S TUNNEL VISION

  • This organelles main focus is to produces proteins and help them fold properly.

SHAPES AND SIZES.

  • The Endoplasmic Reticulum’s shape allows it to properly transport folded protein to the Golgi Apparatus (Golgi).
Look at the arrows pointing from the Endoplasmic Reticulum to the Golgi Apparatus (Golgi).

INTERESTING FOLDS.

  • The rough endoplasmic reticulum has folds to aid protein transportation. Unfolded proteins can cause an Unfolded Protein Response (UPR), which occurs when the cell is stressed.

Click below to learn more about UPR

Look at those folds!

USEFUL ANALOGY

  • This organelle represents the hallways at BCIT since the Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum transports proteins.
