Remembering Grampa Shirl & Grandma Myrtle

Shirley & Myrtle Player at home on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle, WA, circa 1941.

Shirley Player graduated West high School in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1915. He moved his young family to Seattle in 1926 because his wife's health had suffered in the high altitude.

His sweetheart, Myrtle, had graduated from St. Mark's Nursing School in Salt Lake, and was now caring for their two sons and a daughter.

The ever attentive Myrtle is holding her son Jack's hand at Player's Service Station.

Notice the funky old timey gas pumps, where the customer could literally see what he was buying before it went into his gas tank.

This was the last photo taken of Shirley before he died.
