Logan's Carving

This was my first sketch. I had no idea what to carve so Ellie helped me and told me to draw my name. So I drew my name in an arch over a star. The problem with this was the lines were too thin and I learned that the part being carved in was the black. I wanted my whole name carved in, so I had to redraw this inverted.
This was my second sketch. I inverted the colors on the name and made the star look better. I also thickened the lines to make sure the carvey could carve them I also made the star into a mix of positive and negative shapes.
This is my carving in process, I had the wrong depth so we had to restart. We made it go from 30 to 7 minutes long.

This was my color choice, I chose yellow and black. When the drill carves through the yellow it will show black. I chose this color because I like the contrast between yellow and black and I think it will go well with my positive and negative shapes.

This is my finished project. I am glad that I chose this color choice and I think that I balanced out the positive and negative shapes well.
