This is the first blog post put together by me (Josh), Sarah and Ashish as we serve the Penlee Cluster and surrounding community. It’s been great getting to know each other- whether it’s my love of food, Ashish’s love of cricket or Sarah’s love of card games-we find ourselves working and getting along together really well.
Story-keepers kids club meets at Paul once a month to play games and follow a story. We heard a part of the lovely story- I am David- where David was rescued and helped by a dog he met on his journey. And then we played games in teams. Teaming up is always enjoyable. It always encourages us to have unity and diversity- people with diverse thoughts work towards a common goal. Like in the photo above where we built stretchers out of newspaper!
We have a fellowship meal on Thursday called as Wisdom Community. We meet at St. Mary’s church around 6 pm. We eat dinner together and then reflect on the Gospel Scripture for Sunday. We start cooking by 5 pm and then set the table etc before others join in for dinner. It’s a great time for Sarah and Ashish specially to learn English cooking and off course to eat. Rev. Sian leads the Bible passage reflection time
Every Friday afternoon kids from St Mary’s C of E school descend on the Playzone at St John’s. We help to prepare or order and serve food, organise craft and games and supervise the play. It’s a great time as the stresses of the school week can be bounced away on the bouncy castle or forgotten about in the ball pool. As we help out on a Friday there are always memorable moments, for example the recent Year 6 post-SATs party downstairs. One boy struggling to get his phone to play party music louder as another kid put food into his lemonade. What would you expect?
