The Golf experience
Every hole at a great golf course should test different aspects of your game. It shouldn’t be a cake walk for good golfer or a torture session for the not-so-good golfer. The new Sunset Valley golf course is designed to be harder and easier – accommodating a broad spectrum of skill sets.
The heathland characteristics of Sunset Valley provide a combination of golf hole features rich in diversity. Golfers have alternative options to conquer each hole resulting in a fun and rewarding round of golf. Meanwhile, the undulating landscapes of the heathland layout make the terrain ideal for fast, challenging golf. Each round of golf on this course can be completely different, creating a unique golf experience like no other.
The over 6,700 yard 18-hole course features continuous cart paths and multiple tee boxes accommodating every player level.

The highlight of the new course! This breathtaking peninsula features a natural stone wall embankment outlined by colorful flowering plantings and surrounded by an expanded lake.
The newly remodeled clubhouse offers a classic cozy vibe with stunning views of the new golf course. The interior includes a roomy bar, pro shop, dining and lounge area with fireplace. Rich wood tones and a classic color palette provide a warm relaxing escape. Outside, the trellised patio overlooking the new course is the perfect setting to hang out for drinks and a meal.
The renovation project
Sunset Valley Golf Club is a facility of the Park District of Highland Park and has served as Highland Park’s hometown course since 1920. The $7 million renovation of the club began in May 2017 and was the first initiative to be implemented in the Park District’s GreenPrint 2024 master plan. The course will re-open for play later summer 2018.
