Pastor's Message

We Will Not Neglect the House of Our God

By: Pastor Garry Genser

Nehemiah 10:39 ends with the commitment:

"We will not neglect the house of our God.”

Although the sermon series has ended the Nehemiah project is in full swing. The biggest and most urgent work in progress is replacing the flat roofs of the church, a task which will cost the church around $!58,000. Because the repair needs to be made immediately to prevent harm to the building, the Church Board has taken out a loan for this plus about $130,000 to repair any damage beneath the roof and to have a start on the bathrooms. Your faithfulness and your generosity in making sure that the house of God is not neglected is what is allowing these repairs to happen! Thank you so very much!

You might have noticed some damage to the carport on the side of the church, caused by an embarrassed member whose insurance will be paying for the repair. The contractor is struggling with a difficulty in getting that large of a beam made in a timely manner, but hopefully it will not take too long. Please forgive the inconvenience.

The church board created a Building Committee to prioritize the projects needed to be done and to contract and oversee them. The chairman of the Committee is Janice Henderson. She can be reached at (301) 785-6346 or janhenderson63@gmail.com. Please feel free to check in with her and the Committee from time to time to encourage them in their work!

The Fall Semester of our outreach groups we call “Grow Groups” is about to start. Why not read the catalog on the church website or available in hardcopy at the Connection Center.

Remember the key verse in Nehemiah 39:10 “We will not neglect the house of our God”. Would you join in this effort with your generous contributions to the Building Fund online or at church and even more importantly pray for the successful completion the tasks at hand. A church that works and prays together, stays together and is the object of the Lord’s supreme regard!
