The light fades to the shortest day of the year, and with it our energy ebbs and we lean toward coziness and hibernation in the dusk rather than the bright striving of summer.

Trees and plants draw their energy down into their roots to ride out the winter, resting until Spring.

Tender birds migrate to warmer climes, water solidifies in the cold, and frost embroiders the landscape.

It's a time of unique and subtle beauty.

A time when culture traditionally flowed with the season— finishing putting up food, telling stories around the fire, sharing feasts and celebrations from the harvest, turning inward together, celebrating the returning of the light as we round the corner on the Solstice.

It's so easy to get caught up in the daily grind of modern life— to feel trapped by expectations & responsibilities, feel too busy for fun or unsettled by the changing season...

So let's slow down a bit together and savor this fleeting season.

Life is short, and we feel time slipping through our fingers.

We feel a pull to something more- beyond the striving and the busyness.
