The Need and Benefit of On-Campus EMS By Andrew Hoster

Emergencies are happening all the time and a college campus is a prime place for them to happen.

There are only the local EMS agencies like the one I work for, (AltaVista EMS) to respond to the calls on campus because there is no EMS system on Liberty's campus.

Traffic on Wards Rd. is a nightmare and causes long delays for emergency responders. Which is why an on-campus program would be very beneficial.

With the response time from Lynchburg being extended due to traffic and distance, there is a greater risk for an accident to happen on the way to a call. If there is an accident, not only does it cause injuries to the first responders, the student that needed help on campus now has no help coming.

In conclusion, the ability to have an on-campus EMS program, will not only benefit the students and the school, it will also be much safer for the first responders and will greatly benefit everyone involved.
