What are some cultural experiences you have had when travelling that have surprised you?

The malaysian flag

In malaysia I learned that not all of the people are muslims and there are tons of Buddhist temples and they put food in front of statues so that they can eat it but i don't believe it.

How will the teachers and students need to adapt their behavior to ensure they are respectful while visiting this country and different culture?

I always search on the internet before going to a country about what they have and what they dress, so they could do the same.

How will teachers and students prepare to ensure they are not surprised by how the culture interacts with them?

Same as the one before just search as deep as you can about the country.

By preparing ourselves in this way, are we limiting ourselves in building a relationship with the culture?

No, because not everything is on the internet, you might be walking in a bazaar and find a temple at the end of it.

What are some things that you could bring on the trip to help you in your interaction with the local population?

I recommend bringing insect repellent, an umbrella, rubber boots, and a ton of clothes because of the moist air, I also recommend to pack light stuff in a bag like a camera money and sunblock, the rest you can leave at your hotel.
