Cougar Pride, Far and Wide

Congratulations to CJHS Science teacher, Mary Anne Pella-Donnelly for completing ANOTHER Boston Marathon! #CougarPride

Congratulations to History teacher, Chris Montgomery for being selected as an NEH Scholar. She will be participating in the National Endowment for Humanities Summer Institute at the New-York Historical Society. She has the fantastic opportunity to spend three exciting weeks engaged in lively discussions with 24 of the nation’s most-renowned historians, and exploring historic sites in New York City to bring fresh perspectives on American, military, and women’s history. We are Cougar Proud!

The month of March was extremely busy for our music dept., as they prepared for the CMEA Music festival, which was held in April. However, their hard work paid off! Our Beginning Band received a rating of Excellent (II) and both the Concert Band and Choir received a Superior (I) rating! We are all so proud of our students! Cougar Pride!

Chico Noon Rotary!

On March 31st, three teachers and forty CJHS students had an incredible learning experience, thanks to a generous donation from Chico Noon Rotary. The students heard presentations from four professionals: a CSUC professor, a pharmacist, a contractor, and a small business owner. Students then boarded a school bus and headed to Butte College. Highlights of that experience included the opportunity to help build the mandala being created by a Tibetan monk and a visit to the police academy. Students then traveled by bus to the Northwest Lineman’s College. A highlight was to examine and test some of the tools used in that profession. A fun and educational day was experienced by all involved. Thank you, Noon Rotary, for your ongoing support of Chico Junior High!
