ADDY Award Winners
The American Advertising Awards, also known as the ADDYs, is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting over 40,000 professional and student entries every year in local AAF Club competitions. The mission of the American Advertising Awards competition is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising. Conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the local Ad Club phase is the first of a three-tier, national competition. Winners advance at each level. ADDY winners at the local level can go on to compete at the District level, and District winners can advance to the National competition.
Students can be awarded Gold or Silver for their work. A Gold ADDY is recognition of the highest level of creative excellence and is judged to be superior, and the Silver ADDY is awarded to entries that are considered outstanding and worthy of recognition. Unlike other competitions where there may be one silver, and one gold handed out, the ADDY judges determine how many entries will receive each honor. Often multiple golds, but no silvers are awarded, and vice versa.
The Nashville student ADDY competition is one of the most competitive in the nation, with hundreds of entries from colleges and universities in Middle Tennessee. Nashville State students have competed with students from Watkins College of Art & Design, The Art Institute of Tennessee, Austin Peay, MTSU, Nossi College of Art, TSU and O'More College of Design.
