Alvin Ford CAB President

From his 2nd floor Student Center office, Alvin Ford can hear the loud voices coming from the downstairs canteen and the laughter erupting from the next-door game room. Instead of joining in on the fun Ford works hard to make sure “I Love Morgan Week” is to everyone’s expectations. Working hard on the CAB council he deals with making sure events are acceptable to code, ensuring the president’s approval, and working with other organizations to ensure their attendance. Alvin Ford isn’t a typical employee of Morgan state University. Although he has his own office, the work he provides for the students is voluntary.

Alvin Ford's first sold out event as CAB president, was the homecoming 2016 concert.

Alvin Ford comes from a family where he is the oldest child of a single mother. The ability to multitask and care for others was embedded at a young age. He is an actual Undergraduate student at Morgan State University. He does not juggle being a parent, however he juggles with classes, a 9am to 5pm job and he recently crossed on over with the fall 2016 Phi Beta Sigma line. As a transfer student from South Carolina State it took a year for him to find his niche here at Morgan State University.

Although the hectic schedule, Ford always finds time to spend with his family.

He begun working on the activities board in 2014, when they were named the Umoja council. The name has recently changed to the Campus Activity Board (CAB). Alvin Ford is serving as the president of the board, making him an official employee with a spacious office. To reiterate Ford’s multitasking ability, he also serves as Mr. Society of Future Leadership, a member of the Department of Education Student Accreditation Board, an Access peer mentor, A brother of SMOOTH, and a brother of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.

“My favorite moment of CAB president getting the opportunity to talk to booking companies and getting to actually talk to the different artists,” Ford answered when asked about the highlight of his position.

His latest project has been “I Love Morgan Week.” This a week in the spring semester where student get to express their school spirit. As a graduating senior, he hasn’t had the moment to relax in his last semester as his seniors have. Instead Alvin Ford spent his days deciding on a theme, booking venues, booking interesting activities for the students such as the concert, then most importantly assuring that everything is to Morgan State’s standards and regulations. He explains that he has enjoyed planning his last “I Love Morgan” week, however he can’t wait until it’s over and he can celebrate qualifying for the upcoming commencement ceremony.
