Snowy owls are in danger. The snowy owl is a large, white owl of the typical owl family. Snowy owls were found in Arctic regions in North America and Eurasia. Males are almost all white, while females have more flecks of black. The Snowy Owl is endangered due to the fact that these owls have a hard time finding enough food. Poachers kill them in order to make money from the fearthers of this type of owl. Trapping them has resulted in their numbers taking a turn for the worst in the past couple of years.

The scientific name for a snowy owl is Bubo scandiacus.Unlike most owls which are nocturnal snowy owls are diurnal they hunt and are active both day and night. Snowy owls nest all across the Arctic in Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Scandinavia, and Russia. their total world population was about 300,000.
