The students of Baker Middle School will host the inaugural community wide Color Run by Get Active Fundraising on October 2nd, 2019 after school to raise money.
The Color Run is an untimed 1.5 Mile walk & 2 Mile run for all ages and fitness abilities. Walk, jog, or run to the finish line! Along the route, participants pass through vibrant color zones, making it a “colorful experience.” This event is fun for all ages and a great way to make running fun and exciting! Additionally, during the race, participants are doused with color at various color stations ending with one final color celebration at the finish line.
“Rather than sell goods, we want to engage the entire student body in a fitness initiative that aims to encourage a life-long healthy way of living,” says Tara Colussi, Baker Middle School PTO President. Participants that register by 9/22/19 will receive a t-shirt, race bib, and individual color packet.
You can sign up for the run by visiting secure.getactivefundraising.com and searching for your event or by completing a paper registration form. Business sponsorship opportunities are also available. This is a great way to promote for any business and support your community. Please contact the event organizer for more information.

Suicide Prevention & Intervention
The Troy School District is doing many things to address social-emotional needs. One initiative is providing every secondary student with a resource card and crisis information. This is called an ACT card (A=Acknowledge, C=Care, T=Tell). As part of the district-wide crisis prevention initiative, students will receive a pocket-sized “ACT Card.”
The card helps students know what to do if they notice signs of a serious issue either with themselves or with a friend. Students are asked to identify two trusted adults (one in school and one outside of school) that they feel comfortable going to in a serious situation. The back of the card provides phone, text and web resources for free and confidential crisis support.
The Baker Counseling Department will visit all 6th, 7th and 8th grade science classes in the upcoming weeks to introduce themselves to students and help students understand the role of the school counselor.

Hello and welcome to the Baker Bob Shop!! We really appreciate you signing up to volunteer. The shift runs every school day from 11:15am - 1:00pm. On these days we need one Shop Keeper, with the exception of Tuesdays and Fridays. These are Candy Days and usually very busy, so we ask for two Shop Keepers.
Don't worry if you have not volunteered in the past. There are directions in the Bob Shop, and Jennifer Molotky is there most days as a noon aide. She is overseeing the Bob Shop this year and is happy to help anyone who needs it!
Please review the slots using the link below and sign up where you can. Be mindful to let everyone have a chance to take a spot so as to be fair. Again, we really appreciate your willingness to help out and have fun Shop Keepers!! Feel free to email or text me any questions.
Troy Food Service is Hiring!
The Troy Schools Food Service Department, which is contracted by Chartwells, is seeking friendly people willing to fill various vacancies within the Food Service Department that are responsible for providing lunches to the students of the Troy School District. Not to worry if you haven’t had previous experience, as “on the job” training will be available! Depending on the school, the hours would primarily be during the middle of the day, but will vary depending on the vacancy. And you would be earning some extra money while your students are in school! Come join our Food Service Staff by calling 248-823-5089, or please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
