Perspectives Portfolio of Karla Willimott

Welcome!

Come learn a little bit about me and my life in Toronto...

I am a 20 year old girl living in Stouffville, ON. I have a lot of different interests in the art and design field. I enjoy a little bit of everything, but what I enjoy most is photography. I believe that I am talented in photography because I am usually happy with what I create. I believe that being happy with your own work is important because it inspires you to do your best. You also won't see true purpose in what you do if you aren't happy. "Nothing is worth it if you aren't happy" ― Eren Mckay. It also shows you what you are good in and what you need to improve on. Knowing that will help you become an even better artist".

I am currently taking the Art and Design Foundation course at George Brown College, hoping to graduate in April. I have a skill in art, and have taken an art class all four years of being in high school. In the Art and Design course, I have learned a lot so far. I have experienced new social platforms to help me share my artwork. I have learned which materials are proper for different mediums. I have also been taught how to make a piece of artwork look more professional. I am skilled in photography, and have learned a lot more about the camera and editing techniques. I hope to use my skills to fulfill my future career pathway.

One main reason why I love photography is because it captures moments which then gives you a visual to go back to for memories. Sometimes it is difficult to consciously remember details about a certain event that happened... photography helps with that. You can capture any moment and any time and have it for life. “Taking pictures is savoring life intensely, every hundredth of a second” ― Marc Riboud.

Another reason is because I want to show myself to world as who I am. Yes, others have their own perspectives and judge people based on what they know, but I believe that we all should have a chance to express ourselves in even the littlest way possible. The reason why I believe this is because when we are happy with ourselves and what we do, we intuitively want others to know. We are proud of ourselves and that is something we should be able to show through our artwork. We should want to leave a trail of inspiration behind us where ever we go. We should want to be known for who we truly are. “When people look at my pictures I want them to feel the way they do when they want to read a line of a poem twice.” ― Robert Frank

But I'm not going to just sit here and dream... here are some more images that I am proud to call mine... take a look!
