Ewing Young Happenings May 2, 2017

Our 2nd and Third graders connected with a scientist from NY to learn about forces and motion. It's great to see kids learning from professionals across the nation via technology.
Author/Poet David Green visited this past week. He met with all students in the morning for an assembly and later in the day did some writing with 4th and 5th graders. Thanks to EYST (that's Ewing Young Parent Group) for the funds that allowed him to come to our school.
We said thank you to our volunteers this past week. Our food service put together a wonderful lunch during the lunch period. If you were unable to make it- A BIG THANKS FROM OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF.
KKids presented to EY staff and Kiwanis to request funding for a food pantry for local families. Funding was granted and in no time, the "Pioneer Pantry" will be a new part of our school. Thanks KKids and Mrs. Primavera for making a BIG difference.
Our 5th grade heritage presentations were awesome as students researched and presented information about their families. We are very proud of their work and I know they enjoyed learning about their heritage.
Four Ewing Young students were were recipients of awards for their poetry from the Oregon Poetry Society. Congrats to Garron, Lily, Jade and Isabella (not pictured) for your creative talents.
ReMINDER- 4th/5th music performance in coming up on May 11th at 2:30 PM in the gym.
