Canbury School Newsletter 5th July 2019. issue 166

Dear Parents and Visitors

We're finally here. The end of another Canbury School academic year. How on EARTH did we arrive here so quickly? What a year it's been!

We've enjoyed the most wonderful morning, with Prize Giving and then summer drinks in the garden. In fact it feels like the whole week has been one of socialising, from Mr Orchard's retirement 'do' on Monday, to Sports Day on Tuesday, the Canbury Garden Party Wednesday evening (preceded by the last House Event of the year) and then the annual whole school day trip out on Thursday, with Chessington World of Adventures and Thorpe Park not knowing what had hit them!

I want to thank everyone who makes Canbury what it is - my staff, our students and their parents and carers. We really are one big happy family. Enjoy your summer break, read lots, play, rest, eat good food and have some fun. We look forward to welcoming Year 11 in on the 22nd August, when school will be open from 10am to 11am for their GCSE results.

Otherwise, staff will be back at school on Monday and Tuesday 2nd and 3rd September for training and then we will all be back at 8.10am on Wednesday 4th September to get the whole show back on the road for another year.

In the meantime, enjoy the pictures below which give a flavour of this last glorious week.

Happy summer holiday!

Ms Clancy

Garden party (with a Year 11 art exhibition thrown in for good measure), Mr Orchard's retirement do, Sports Day, a trip to Chessington World of Adventures....the action was non-stop this week.

The fun continued with a House Event - who would be the prettiest teacher? You decide......

Ms Clancy and students got busy with the paints!

Sports Day left us all gasping for breath

Today we finished off with Prize Giving. Well done EVERYONE!

Mr Orchard was of course the obvious choice to present the awards this morning.
