MLK Day at FHE

To help us celebrate this day, our friends from Moravian College and PPL visited FHE to read with us and talk about how we can all follow our dreams while making our world a better place. #WeHaveDreamAtFHE

Book Blast & Heritage Night

On Thursday, January 30th we held our Annual Book Blast & Heritage Night. The night started with read alouds, tips for reading at home, and free books & crayons. Families then visited our Gym to explore cultures presented by FHE staff and our friends from the International Program at Northampton Community College and the Couch Pota-Doh! Food Truck.

Our Principal Mrs. Stambaugh and The Hill Leadership Team use this section of THE HILL to share important news and announcements related to our FHE School Community.

January Review

Fountain Hill Elementary School hopes each of our families had a great start to 2020! Here at The Hill, we kicked off the New Year with a Human Literacy Assembly! At Fountain Hill, it is extremely important that we focus on growing the whole child, which is why we incorporate human literary into our day. Human literacy means empowering all learners to thrive in our school community by making choices that have a positive impact on themselves, others and the school environment. We support student growth in human literacy through Tiger Talk and Leader in Me. Information about Tiger Talk and Leader in Me was sent home at the beginning of January. If you would like more information or need another copy of anything, please contact our main office or your child’s classroom teacher.

I could not think of a better way to end January then with our Book Blast and Heritage Night. The energy and celebration was amazing! Special thank you to Mrs. Hoffman, school staff and community members who ensured our gym was filled with food, activities and fun for our families!

As we move into February, please note the following.

During the month of February, we will celebrate Zones of Regulation. Zones of Regulation is common language at The Hill that helps students describe their emotions and provides them with strategies for when they are in each zone. Information about the celebration will be sent home during the second week of February.

What is QR?

From Mr. Diccico:

A QR Code is a two-dimensional barcode that is readable by smartphones. It allows to encode over 4000 characters in a two dimensional barcode. QR Codes may be used to display text to the user, to open a URL, save a contact to the address book or to compose text messages. If you use a modern web browser (recent versions of Firefox or Chrome) and have a webcam, this site allows you to scan QR Codes with your web browser.

Use this website to generate a QR-Code that links to "Free Text, a URL, Contact, Phone, or SMS". Scan the QR-Code below to watch a video how students can use their Chromebooks to scan QR-Codes.

Vocab + Video = Awesome!

To practice our 8 vocabulary words for the week, we ask students to create a video using WeVideo that incorporate the words in context. Using WeVideo's text overlay animations, music, transitions, and stock footage, students interacted with each word by creating a scene in context. Soooo much better than a worksheet!

Check out Kyla's video below.

Friday FHE Morning News

Did you know that every Friday our Morning Announcements come via the FHE Friday Morning News Show starring 5th Grade hosts?

Mr. DiCicco and students use WeVideo and a Green Screen to create the Morning News episodes each week.
