LES Elementary April 2, 2021

A Note from the Principal...

We hope everyone enjoyed their Spring Break! Nice weather is on the way, which makes for an exciting, but somewhat crazy time of year! Please remember to wear proper shoes and clothing. Even though it is warming up, some grade levels have recess earlier in the day when temperatures are cooler. We hope everyone enjoys their weekend. Happy Easter!

Important Information

COVID-19 Update

As you probably know, the Governor is updating the policy on the mask mandate beginning April 6th. Schools will still be required to follow the same policies that we have all year long. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.

IREAD Testing Scores

The score reports for the IREAD will be sent home on Monday, April 5th. If your child did not pass, we will be contacting you to let you know the next steps for your child.

Summer Daycare

For the summer of 2021, we have decided to cancel our summer daycare program. This was a tough decision, however, due to state requirements of contact tracing and social distancing protocols that have to be followed, we feel this is best to keep everyone safe. We would hate for families to rely on this service and then have to shut down due to contact tracing and cases. Our hope is that we can offer this service again next summer. If you have any questions, you may contact the elementary office. Daycare plans for the fall will be decided this summer.

Martin County 4-H Fair Dates

The Martin County 4-H Fair will be held July 9th-July 13th at the fairgrounds.

Mrs. Smith's Smarties

The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning highlights five essential areas for academic and relationship success. They are self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. There are easy ways to incorporate social-emotional activities both in class or at home. Most importantly, be present, and take time to share with your kids. Help them develop these necessary skills with CASEL competencies to set them up for success. Check out this site for activities to help!

Our tutoring service has started. Tutoring is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays of each week, as long as we have teachers to supervise. We have 20 spots available each day. To give all students an opportunity to receive this service, you must call into the office beginning on Monday of each week to sign up. Tutoring is after until 4:00 PM. Call the elementary office with any questions.
