The LOOK by Laurie Perez

A beautifully written novel that had me on the edge of my seat. It is wholly original and full of the unexpected. ~H. Axen

I loved The Look! . . . It was thought-provoking, philosophical, and even therapeutic . . . but in a sneaky way. It has the depth to challenge and expand your way of thinking about life and human connections, but at the same time, you're busy escaping into an entertaining, imaginative, and unique story. (It was a little sexy too.) ~CJM

A fantastical trip through the possiBilitiEs smashing illusions... what a gift ~N. Halberstadt

". . . an exhilarating trip of vast knowledge and exquisite imagination. Her description of 'oneness' explodes in my mind. The Look is one of those great books; it needs to be re-read and re-read . . ." ~Marlene Cheng

"Pour yourself some Icelandic vodka, turn on some Nordic chill music, and get ready for an experience. I love Amie and you will too." ~Beatles65

"Such an intriguing adventure!" ~Joseph Mercado, Next Dimension Music

"Strangely intimate. Strangely nuclear and cosmic at the same time. . . Strangely euphoric in the way it hits secret passworded buttons that open niches, cracks and gates to hidden gardens in the mind that unveil insights. Beautiful." ~Praveer Shukla

"Every few pages, there's a line that cracks me wide open. Or an experience that is exactly as I experience things. Or a way of describing something that fits precisely something I've been trying to understand, or at least hoping I'm not the only one who sees it that way." ~Mark C.

"The writing is amazing, poetic, highly descriptive. Clues about what really happened in Iceland when she acquired the LOOK are given in flashbacks while Amie lives her current life with this unique, life-changing ability. The characters and settings are mysteriously intertwined and intriguing, to say the least. I love how you're reading along and then comes the big build-up. . . Yes. She knows. She must activate the LOOK. And you get taken inside on a magical ride." ~M. Schultz

This book is a masterpiece! It should be made into a movie! It has the fire, it has the spark we all crave. I do not read many novels any more, but this... this book pulls you inside and you can't put it down. You will want to experience all the places, and eat all the foods the main character is eating. You will want to BE the main character. The books starts in a poetic way and it only gets better. One may think it's fantasy, but if you are working in certain field, you know that what for one may be impossible- for another is a possibility and a reality. ~J. Zajusz
Daniel’s no lush. Not for liquor, anyway. Poetry, he suckles like heroin, but booze is just an essential prop. He’s disappointed when the only thing I want to order is an unadulterated vodka — my usual. ~Amie

Flaws, physics, mystics and lots of chilled Reyka converge on an anti-healer's twisted path of self-discovery. THE LOOK OF AMIE MARTINE is a novel set in Phoenix, L.A., Iceland, 13th century Persia and the fields of Elysium.

Thirty-four-year-old Amie (as in the French, mon amie) is a reluctant healer with the ability to trespass and manipulate the fabric of reality. Seven years ago, she buried her past on a lava field in Iceland and succeeded in never looking back - until now. As past inevitably collides with present, Amie must choose to shatter and open up her quietly exotic life, or burrow deeper into darkness.

Heartbreaking losses and mystic interventions - L.A. producers, Sufi poets, gritty NYC speakeasies - dangerous Dutch lovers, PTSD for actors - a sexy new take on Orpheus and Eurydice served with chasers of very cold Icelandic vodka. . . The LOOK has a vast, global scope with an intimacy you will not want to leave.

"It's like you are writing me as Amie. . . The being of the person. It's incredible how you write similar to my experiences... I love it!" ~Trevor Wry
