WHAT IS SILICON VALLEY?

Silicon valley is located in the southern portion of the San Francisco Bay Area, part of northern California, U.S. High tech corporations and thousands of tech startup companies are located here. Silicon Valley is a nickname, the name refers to High concentration of companies involved in the making of semiconductors and computer industry.

WHEN WAS SILICON VALLEY ESTABLISHED?

Due to then encouragement of their professor and mentor, Fredrick Terman, Parkard and William Hewlett established Palo Alto garage, a small electronics company, in 1939. This garage is now dubbed as "the Birthplace of silicon valley".

WHAT EFFECTS DID THE SILICON VALLEY HAVE?

Due to the discovery of Silicon Valley, San Francisco represented the fasted growing cities for the tech industry. Los Angeles then ranked second for the number of high tech employees, 147,000,compared to San Jose's 221,000 employees. Silicon Valley now leads the state in high tech jobs and average salaries. Silicon Valley also allows anyone who wishes to create a startup company to have an opportunity.
