What I learned while making my Elements of art and design cards was that monoprinting is a form of printing using one layer of paint at a time. I learned that the best technique for me to use is the add MANY layers to the paper and use a lot of tools to give you many textures to your work. I also learned that a good way to make a card for space and balance is to choose a corner to leave blank, and add colors to the space around it and then at the end go back and place shapes in to the corner so you will be able to reach perfect balance in your art.
My favorite card to make was the Emphasis card. I liked making this card the best because I really enjoyed adding all the layers on to that one. I added a lot of layers to that card but they blended together nicely so it came out looking as if I only had one of two layers. I also really enjoyed making the bright orange fish with different shades of orange paint. My second favorite card to do was the rhythm and line card because of all the layers that showed up on it, I feel like it really showed the rules of line and rhythm in art, I placed several different repeating lines in many places and then I also added in dots to increase the amount of patter in the work.
