Guest Presenter - Dwayne Peace
On Tuesday, Jan 31st, Dwayne Peace of Life Synergy for Youth, www.lifesynergy4youth.com will be here for our next student assembly, taking place in the morning. The 3- hour assembly will be his session called Life's Challenges in Secondary School - Part 1.
Our Lunch break will be 12:00 to 12:35pm. The afternoon blocks will be A & C (65 min each). During the afternoon, Dwayne will be doing a Part 2- session with a group of 25 students selected from various social groups in both grades.
Parent Session
Dwayne will then be doing a parent session the same evening in the CRC (Concession) from 6:00 - 8:30pm. We hope to see you there

We wish Mrs. Tinto all the best with the upcoming birth of her second child in early February. Mrs. Tinto will be on Maternity Leave for the rest of this school year until February 2018. We’re sure that sister Fiona, mom and baby will visit soon.
Taking Mrs. Tinto’s place, we welcome Mrs. Kim Bedard from Victoria BC. Mrs. Bedard starts on January 31st.
Over the next couple weeks, if they haven’t yet already, our teaching staff will be contacting both parents and students with an update on their progress for Term 2.
This will likely be through FreshGrade, but could also be by email or phone calls.
Term 2 started Monday, Dec. 5th and ends Friday, March 3rd.
Report Cards will then be issued the week before Spring Break.
Our next round of Interviews will be drop-in again unless individual teachers arrange appointments.

Please contact your son/daughter’s teachers if these dates and times to arrange other times to meet if you are unable to come out on the 22nd – 23rd.
We will also have our FreshGrade help table available for parents at the Intersection.

Grade 9 Boys won the “Bert Bowes New Year's Classic Basketball Tournament” at NPSS.
This weekend they are at the “2017 Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre Junior High Classic” at GPRC, hoping to do well.
February 3/4 we are hosting our 2017 Coyotes Classic at both Campuses. There will be two afternoon home games @ Central Campus for our students to watch on Fri, Feb 3rd. Stay tuned for details and schedule.
UPDATE: At the GPRC 2017 Pomeroy Junior High Classic our boys gr. 9 team was again Champions of the tournament. Way to go Boys. The girls also attended the tournament and came 7th.
Students have been busy engaging in a number of activities. The community connections 8 class contiues to visit and voulenteer at the Nawican on a fairly regular basis as well as the foods 9 class who have made meals in the kitchen. A small group of grade 9 students attended the Chinook Cousins event at the NLC. They were exposed to skills necessary for post secondary schooling. Students who were not able to attend as a grade 9 student, will have the opportunity in grades 10-12. Most recently, a group of 15 students travelled to Chetwynd with Mr. Horton and students from South Peace Campus, to listen to motivational speaker Earl Lambert (earlambert.com).
Congratulations to our 68 Grade 8s and 62 Grade 9s who made it on the Honor Roll for Term 1 with either A averages or straight A's in all their Term 1 courses. Honor Roll Certificates were given out when Ms. Lindstrom visited Pod classes in the past week. Well done to our 130 students! You should be proud ~ We are.
