Joyce Lui Getting to know me

I am currently a sophomore at Carroll College, hailed from Portland, Oregon. I am studying to become a high school teacher and hope to teach back home in Oregon.

A little bit about myself: I am a first-generation college student. I am the first in my family to go to college. It was difficult to find the median between going for a job that I have a passion for but that will also allow me to support myself. I didn't realize it earlier, but I have always been interested in the education field. I would unknowingly analyze effective and ineffective teaching methods in my school experience. I am always looking for ways to improve myself.

During my junior year of high school, I joined a program that helped me go through the process of applying to college

I would have never thought that I would come to Montana for college. As a child, I knew that I was going to go to college, and I had assumed that it would just be a public university in my home state. I am very happy with my college choice. I love the atmosphere and the people here.

Montana has offered me many positive new experiences such as skiing, sledding, celebrating a traditional American Thanksgiving dinner, shooting, joining drumline, and much more!

I am a part of Carroll College's Drumline and Pep Band. I play the bass drum in Drumline and clarinet in Pep Band. (Photo credit goes to my friend, Andrew Matheison)

When I graduate from Carroll College, I plan to return to Oregon and continue my education there. Even so, who knows what's in store for me two years from now?
