Some of the causes of the French Revolution was the international struggle for hegemony and empire outstrips the fiscal resources of the state. The political conflict between monarchy and nobility over the "reform" of the tax system led to paralysis and bankruptcy..the most important cause of the revolution was the nations debt, the refusal of the nobility and the clergy to pay taxes.

On Agustin 22, 1795 the National convention composed largely girondins who survived the reign of terror.
