Men's Shed Vernon In The Media

Some of our guys responsible for the gazebo shelter built and erected for the Vernon Archway Society transition house. Well done to all who put so much into this project.

InfoNews recently published a good article on how the Men's Shed movement is an effective approach enabling guys to work together to be more resilient to life changes such as retirement, illness, and loneliness. Good comments, guys!

MorningStar News - "Men's Shed Builds Camaraderie & Support"

The Kelowna Courier "Men Find Fellowship At the SHED in Vernon"

This photo was featured in the article, which highlights the cross generation interaction as one of the benefits of guys working together. We all win.

We were out and about in our community

Ray & Lyle visited with about 30 members of the BC Hydro Power Pioneers at their monthly luncheon. Our 20 minutes at the podium were well received.

Hands: We Got Some Stuff Done!

It's Beginning To Look A BIT Like Christmas...

O'keefe Ranch near Vernon is getting ready for their annual awesome Christmas festival, but was falling behind schedule.

They called Men's Shed Vernon to see if we could come out to lend a hand.

Dave F and Gerry G install candy cane "Fence Posts"

Seven of our MSV guys responded. We had several hours of great weather and "Shoulder to Shoulder" time together.

Steve was checking for burnt out light bulbs, David A climbed too high in a tree while stringing lights, and we built about 50M of illuminated fence.

Ray F strings lights on the ground. THAT'S different!

We had a great homemade soup lunch, and some genuine conversation with our new O'Keefe Ranch friends, Sherilee and Anita, about men's health and well being.

WELL DONE GUYS!

CNC Router Maintenance

The CNC Router work area is a pretty hostile environment for a computer! It's cold and dusty. A BIG shout out to Terry R for coming over to the Shed to do some much needed maintenance on the CNC computer. It's all repaired, cleaned up inside, and has a new wooden "cave" where it can warm itself in the winter.

What's that Lyle Up To Now...?

Can you guess what this is?

No, it's not a steering wheel for an antique car...

It's a Tike Bike, c/w adjustable seat and handlebars! Cool!

We're thinking of putting it up for silent auction at "Shoparama" on Dec 7 & 8.

Well done, Lyle.

Minds - Staying Involved

Remember...?

...how we all voted to heat The Shed this winter? Well, it's time to huddle up and keep one another toasty with your donation.
A friendly reminder that it's almost year end. Please visit the CMHA Vernon web site and DONATE cheerfully. Be sure to designate your generous gift to "Men's Shed."

Men's Shed Birch Candle Holders Cast A Bright Light...

"I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating the candle holders for CMHA's Suicide Grief Support Group. Our most recent group has just finished and each participant was gifted with a candle holder. The candles have a particular significance as each week we meet, we begin our evening with a ritual of lighting of the candles. We light one candle for each participant and for those they bring in spirit and one candle for peace and peace in the heart of those they love...." Paula G. - CMHA

You never know how your time at The Shed will make a difference. Thanks Marty, Jerry, and all the guys who make these thoughtful items.

CMHA Calendar: There is a good mix of physical, emotional and mental well being topics offered this week. Get involved!

Check out all the activities, and opportunities to volunteer at CMHA this month.

Mental Health First Aid Course. Gerry G and Mel H attended this valuable two day CMHA course. They both came back much more aware of issues like anxiety and depression, and the language we could use to engage people sensitively on mental health issues. Well done guys!
