USF Counseling Psychology Professional Clinical Counseling Exit Procedures

On this webpage, you will find specific information and direct website links with information and forms for the Professional Clinical Counseling Exit procedures from the University of San Francisco (USF). Please note that the information provided here applies to students and graduates who began their Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology at USF after August of 2012. We recommend that you continuously check the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) website ( ) for any changes or updates in PCC internship and licensure application requirements.

We summarize below a series of steps for PPC Exit Procedures. Please note that these steps only apply to your application for internship registration with the BBS as a Professional Clinical Counselor Intern (PCCI). Exit procedures for your Pupil Personnel Credential in School Counseling (PPS) will be offered in your fieldwork courses and/or by the School of Education Credential Analyst, Helen Huynh, who works closely with the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).

Step 1 - Review your USF academic transcripts: Check your USF Connect to ensure that the required 60 credits have been completed. Your degree will not be posted until all 60 credits are completed. Step 2 - Organize and obtain all required application forms to register as a PCCI with the BBS on the following link (please scroll down until you find the PPCI intern registration application-IN STATE): In addition to completing the application form, and following the instruction requirements on this application packet (e.g., finger printing; photo requirement), please locate the Program Certification Form B.

Step 3 - Check that your degree has been posted on your academic transcript. Before submitting the Program Certification Form B to the department, please verify that your degree has posted on your transcript. Your degree will not post on your transcript until all your grades have been submitted in August. You may check for your degree being posted through USFConnect: 1) Log in; 2) Go to Student tab; 3) Then go to Student self-service; 4) Then go to Student registration; 5) Under student menu, choose Student records; 6) Then choose 3rd link, Academic transcript; 7) Then select transcript level (graduate); 8) Then submit.

Step 4 - Send Request to the Counseling Psychology Department to complete the Program Certification Form B: this request can only be submitted to the department after your degree has been posted on your transcripts. To submit this request, please mail this form to the department with a letter as specified below (please note that these requests cannot be emailed or faxed to the department). On a separate sheet of paper (from form B), please begin your request to complete this form with the following statement: “I am requesting that USF complete the enclosed Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in-state degree program certification form B. My information is as follows: a) Full Name (first, middle and lastname, under which you enrolled at USF); b) Social Security Number; c) USF Student ID number; d) Dates of Attendance to USF (i.e., Fall 2015-Summer 2017); e) Daytime telephone number; f) Current mailing address (USF will not mail completed forms to the BBS). They have to be submitted by you to the BBS; ” g) Sign and Date your letter request (Unsigned requests cannot be completed). Mail your request (letter described here), along with the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Form B to: University of San Francisco; Counseling Psychology Department; 2130 Fulton Street; San Francisco, CA 94117-1080

Step 5 - Request your Official Transcripts at USF. Your application for interns registration with the BBS requires USF official transcripts. These transcripts should contain your Degree Posted. You may request transcripts Online or via Mail. A $5 fee is required by the university per transcript requested. ( Please allow at least two weeks for USF to process your transcripts.
