Bowdoin WOMEN'S RUGBY NIRA SEMIFINAL PREVIEW

The Bowdoin College women's rugby team has earned the second seed and will host Norwich in a National Intercollegiate Rugby Association Division III semifinal on Saturday at Pickard Field. Match time is set for 11:00 a.m.

SEASON RECAP

The Polar Bears bounced back from an early-season loss to first place Colby-Sawyer to win their final three NIRA D-III matches of the season, including important October wins over Norwich (27-17) and UNE (27-12) to secure second place in the league heading into the postseason.

SEMIFINAL MATCH-UP

Bowdoin (6-2, 3-1 NIRA) will be facing a familiar foe, Norwich University, in the semifinal round. In the regular season match between the squads on October 5, the Polar Bears rallied from a 17-15 deficit in the second half to score the final 10 points en route to a key 27-17 victory.

The Cadets (6-2, 2-2 NIRA) enter Saturday's match on a roll, having won three straight overall, including top-seeded Colby Sawyer its only loss of the season, 41-7, last weekend at home.

NIRA TOURNAMENT

The NIRA Division III Tournament gets underway this weekend with the other semifinal match featuring UNE at Colby-Sawyer. The advancing teams from the semifinal will play in the NIRA Division III Championship match on Sunday, November 17 at Harvard University.
