South Island Road Trip THE RINNE FAMILY

For two weeks we travelled the south island of New Zealand. We crossed the ditch between the two islands by taking the ferry from Wellington to Picton in the south island.

On the way to Wellington from Auckland we stopped in Taupo where we checked out the Huka falls. The weather in Wellington was great and the warf was bustling.
The sea was calm and the weather great when we travelled between the two islands. These waters are notrious for the strong winds and big waves so it is definitely not every day you can be outside on deck.
Checking out seals close to Kaikoura and spotting the Hectors dolphin (the worlds smallest dolphin) in Akaroa.
On the way to Queenstown we made a small ”detour” to see Mt Cook. On the way to Mt Cook you pass lake Pukaki which water has a crazy color.
Queenstown is the action sport capital of New Zealand so it was just to go with the flow...
From Queenstown we drove north along the beatiful West Coast.
We finished of our South Island road trip in the beautiful Moutere Valley
