Discovering your personal Legend By; Jacob Curley

Thesis- After reading 'The Alchemist' by Paulo Coelho, It is clear that everyone has a personal legend, but the way people live their personal legends and peruse them is what differs, So through journey, the will to help others and leadership roles, we can see the different approaches a hobbit, an inspiration and a future president took to fulfilled their personal legends.

Detail 1- “Why do we have to listen to our hearts?" the boy asked. "Because, wherever your heart is, that is where you will find your treasure." ( Coelho 132) With that being said, it is true that some people wont be happy because they cant find their treasure nor their heart, but sometimes, someone gives you a suggestion, or even an omen that will send you on the path of righteousness.

In this scene we see a dying Thorin Oakensheild, with his last words he tells a troubled Bilbo, to return to his home and live out his life in his quiet cottage back in the shire, this might not seem like an important line but through the movie series Bilbo doesn't know what to do with his life, he wanted an adventure, but this was Bilbo's omen to go home and live his life in peace. It was Thorin's blessing shall you say to go home.

Detail 2- “When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too" (Coelho 155) Some of us's personal legends are to further others and help them find their personal legends.

Chuck Norris has been an inspiration of many, his main focus in life was always to help the troubled youth of america, he has personally taught martial arts to thousands of students, he is also know for starting the 'kick drugs out of america' program and implanting this into rough intercity schools, Chuck still is involved in the program kick start and does not plan on stopping. He got this inspiration through a rough childhood, when his alcoholic father was never there and a real let down, this gave chuck the Inspiration to change others.

Detail 3: "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” (Coelho 24). This could mean many things, but for some it's the universe conspiring to literally save the universe.

And on that day, June 6th 1944 the eyes of the world were upon them, Dwight Eisenhower had launched a successful invasion of the Normandy coast line, Costing the lives of more than 4,500 men, but this led to the destruction of Nazi tyranny in Europe. But this was not only Dwight Eisenhower's personal legend, it was the largest landing force in history's personal legend, all 156,000 men played an important role in this historic event. And though only 10 countries took part in this event, the world's future relied on it.

Conclusion- It is clear that all people have their own personal legend, but how they discover and pursue their legend is what differs. Through journey, the will to help others, and leadership, people of all sorts discover their personal legends in similar way Santiago did.
