LaAmistad at Peachtree March 30, 2017

Our Dearest Friends,

What a spectacular week of learning! You are all most deserving of the upcoming spring break.

Thank you for being the absolute BEST volunteers in the city of Atlanta. Each week I am so very GRATEFUL and Thankful for your service.

This week we had a group of amazing young people from the University of Missouri who tutored, mentored and poured joy love & laughter into the lives of our children.

They are remarkable young leaders who truly inspired and positively impacted the lives of our students this week, during their short stay.

Volunteers & Friends from the University of Missouri

April 3rd-7th

Spring Break

Next week LaAmistad at Peachtree will be closed for spring break. Relax, read and do something fun over the break.

We are hoping that you will come back relaxed and refreshed.

Can you believe that we will only have 20 days of programming left? Where has the time gone?

Learn, Relax and Learn Some More

Upon our return our children will be in testing mode. I would like to encourage you to review the WOW words and Study Skills in student notebooks.

Both of these resources will serve them well as they are testing.

We have several S.T.E.A.M. learning days planned to help our students relax and unwind and we are sure you will love them as much as the children.

Spring Egg Hunt

On Thursday, April 14th we will have a spring egg hunt for our 1-5 classes. If you volunteer with our students on Thursdays we need your help to make this project a success.

We are asking that you donate one bag of candy and a dozen plastic eggs. I've had the opportunity to speak to all of the Thursday volunteers or at least one representative this week as to how we will conduct the egg hunt.

It's going to be a fun event and a great way to welcome spring.

Please remember that LaAmistad at Peachtree as well as all church offices will be closed Monday, April 17th.

Word of the week

Study Skill

Review Bold Faced Words

How to incorporate the study skill:

Reading comprehension and even math assignments often times include words in bold. We use bold for emphasis, to make sure that the reader sees and takes in certain words. The words in bold are going to be vocabulary words or words of importance.

Thankfulness is being grateful for what you have. It is an attitude of gratitude for learning, loving, and being. It is appreciating the little things which happen around you & within you every day.

It is having a sense of wonder about the beauty of this world. It is being aware of the gifts in your life.

" I am thankful for the many gifts within me and around me today. I appreciate my life. I look for the lessons. I expect the best."
