Chromebook Collection Information
As summer quickly approaches, we wanted to reach out to you concerning our 1:1 Chromebook program. It is critical that each student begins the 2017-2018 school year with all of the tools needed to support his/her studies. In order to better serve our students and families, Greater Clark County Schools has decided to allow students (current 3rd-11th grade students) who are registered for the 2017-2018 school year to take their chromebook home with them over the summer.
When do I have to be registered to take advantage of the summer lender program? How do I register? Registration for the 2017-2018 school year is now open. To take advantage of the summer lender program, visit http://gcs.k12.in.us/registration/ to register your child. Chromebook collection for students not registered for the 2017-2018 school year will begin May 22, 2017. Students with loaners will have those devices collected at this time, as well as 12th grade students.
What if my student’s chromebook is in repair when school ends? What if it breaks over the summer? Students who have a device in repair at the end of the school year and have received a loaner device will have the loaner device issued to them as their permanent device. If no loaner device has been issued, then the student’s parent/guardian will be notified when the device has come back from repair.
If your student breaks his/her Chromebook over the summer, you can take the device to the Administration Building – 2112 Utica Sellersburg Road / Jeffersonville, IN between the hours of 8:00 am – 4:00 pm on Monday through Friday. Devices turned in over the summer will be returned to students as soon as possible. Devices received toward the end of the summer may not be available at the start of the school year.

GCCS Educational Foundation Champions for Children Event Raises $78,000
On Thursday, April 20th, The GCCS Educational Foundation and the Jeffersonville F.O.P. Lodge #100 hosted “Champions for Children” at Huber's Plantation Hall to honor this year's building Champions, recognizing the many contributions of Greater Clark staff who, in their words, help the students in our community succeed and grow into our future leaders.
The event had a two-fold purpose. First, to recognize building certified and classified staff members of the year who have made an outstanding contribution to their school/building and community. The second purpose of the event was to raise much-needed funds for the Educational Foundation’s initiatives. It is the Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser and supports programs like the ACT Testing Initiative which covers the cost of the ACT test for all juniors, ACT WorkKeys job skills assessment to all seniors, classroom grants to allow flexibility and creativity in the classroom, and our robust teacher externship program.
Thank you to all of our generous sponsors for making this year's Champions for Children such a success! Not only were we able to recognize Greater Clark County Schools staff for their outstanding work throughout this year, we were also able to raise $78,000 towards enhancing their educational efforts and, in turn, their students' lives! #BeGreater
Jonathan Jennings Elem. presents "Singin' in the Rain"
Congratulations to students at Jonathan Jennings Elementary for their fabulous production of Singin' in the Rain Jr. The production was full of singing, tap dancing and vaudeville style comedy. Sixty-two cast members from the elementary school performed, along with 15 Charlestown High School students who assisted with tech and set.
