It was April of 2016 and I had just found out a few months prior that my daughter was expecting her first child. I was on my way to look for sea glass on White Horse Beach in Plymouth when I noticed a building set back from the road along route 3A. Turns out, it was Plymouth Country Club. A place I had never been to, or heard of, for that matter.
I did some research when I got home and realized that the club hosts events. Perfect! I wound up getting in contact with Meg, the Event Manager at the club, to talk about what we were looking for in a venue. As soon as I mentioned that we wanted the baby shower to be mermaid themed, she was SO EXCITED!
This was my first time planning a baby shower, so I had no idea what to expect. All I knew was the theme, the color scheme we wanted and the size of our party. Meg brought us in for an in-person meeting and it instantly felt like I had known her my whole life. She was like one of those people that feel like an old friend from the moment you meet them.
She was still so excited about the mermaid theme that it was almost like she was treating it as if it were her own baby shower! This gave me a ton of confidence in her as a professional and I knew I could just focus on the creativity side of things while just having fun with it. As soon as she showed me the 2nd floor function room, I was sold!

The space had a simple elegance to it that just seemed perfect. It wasn’t a massive area but was big enough to comfortably accommodate our party. Plus, ocean views to cap it all off? We decided to go with Plymouth CC as our baby shower venue.

I was blown away by Meg and her team. On the day of the event, they helped with every piece of the setup from centerpieces to wall decorations. Meg even recommended a bakery for the cake, Veronica’s Sweet Cakes. And oh my was it delicious!
Every guest came out of the event stunned by how delicious the food was and how great the atmosphere was. Everything came together like magic, it was unbelievable. Plymouth Country Club was the perfect combination of classy and comfortable as a venue.
Some people want a place like The Park Plaza in Boston but we wanted to the full, traditional Plymouth experience. Plymouth is a special place for us as direct descendants of William Brewster of The Mayflower and as frequent visitors of White Horse Beach. It was the perfect spot for us and we got WAY more than what we payed for.

Plymouth Country Club is the first place I would recommend to anyone thinking about hosting an event. Meg and her team make you feel nothing but confidence that the event will be everything you hoped for. Hosting this baby shower was one of the most fun things I ever did.
