Mountain View News Term 1 Week 4

Deputy Principal / Head of Senior School Message

The 2021 school year is now well under way. As the teachers and students settle in, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and extend a warm welcome back to school to our College community; both returning and new families, teachers and administration staff. Our new students have had some nervous first days, but they are quickly becoming an important part of the Mountain View Family story.

We continue to adapt to the new ‘COVID normal’ and our college events and activities are being planned to build and grow our students and families; educationally, emotionally and spiritually. Year 7 have already gone on their Networking camp where friendships are developed that will help support and guide them through their formal school years. Competitive sporting teams are starting again with the volleyball team participating in inter-school and state competition. We can all be proud of how they are representing the College, not only in sporting achievement but also in their sportsmanship and positive attitude to the competition and their competitors.

We are committed to building a stronger relationship between home and school so that we can work together to support our students to achieve their best in all they do. Please ensure you are regularly checking SEQTA Engage for parents and SEQTA Learn for students, as this is our primary communication and online learning tool for reporting on progress, accessing class work, assessments, marks and reporting.

I look forward to a great year together with lots of celebrations and life-long memories.

God bless,

Mr Stuart Norris

Year 11 PDHPE

Year 11 PDHPE had a lot of fun learning about First Aid and the benefits of knowing how to treat different injuries.

K-6 Testing

In Primary school, K-6 we are currently testing the students in Literacy and Numeracy. This testing occurs every year at the start, middle and end of year. The reason we do this testing on your child/ren is so we can see where they are at in their learning, it gives the teachers a starting point and it keeps us informed of their learning progress.

This also helps us with our reporting and provides us with information enabling us to have informed discussions with you on your child/ren progress in Literacy and Numeracy.

SEQTA Manual

SEQTA is the internal school teaching and learning platform that teachers, parents, and students interact with daily.

Students in Years 7-12 can find information on lessons, homework, upcoming and current assessment information. This is also the platform that students can communicate with teachers and teachers can communicate with parents. Wellbeing, attendance, merit, and demerits are all processed through SEQTA and students and parents are notified when this occurs.

Please find the manual outlining how to access SEQTA. Should you require further assistance please contact krystle.silva@mvac.adventist.edu.au

Basketball Tryouts
