STRONG Club & T-Shirts

A new club is starting here at Larson called the STRONG Club. They will be holding their first meeting this Tuesday October 3rd from 2:45-3:15 in the Collaboration Studio. Any student interested in supporting Larson’s four pillars of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Relationships within and beyond the school day are encouraged to join this open-ended student driven club. Contact Mr. Tull or Mrs. Lining if you have any questions.

We will also be selling STRONG T-shirts for only $5 at lunch next week. We would love for every LMS student to have one and wear it proudly throughout the year.

Welcome Back Activity Fun!

Our first after school activity just concluded and was a blast! Students played video games together, competed in a massive dodgeball game, and ate pizza. Thanks to Mrs. Emmitt and our other parent volunteers for organizing the games and helping out! Our next event will take place in October.

Larson Robotics -- Coach Needed!

The Larson Robotics team is in the process of starting up one more team. We are seeking adult volunteers to coach the team. Our season would start now and runs into December. Generally teams meet twice a week after school or on the weekends. If you are and your middle students are interested in learning more about Larson Robotics please contact daniclipp@gmail.com.

6th and 7th Grade Trip Meetings

The Sixth Grade Class Field Trip Parent Information Night will be held on Monday, October 2nd at 6:00 pm- Larson Cafeteria The sixth grade parents are invited to attend an informational meeting in regards to the Sixth Grade Field Trip to Cleveland. The trip is on Saturday April 21st. Students and parent chaperones will visit the Malley’s Chocolate Factory, Great Lakes Science Center, and the beautiful Cleveland Zoo. This year we will be having lunch at the zoo. Registration is online through Big Country Tours. The Seventh Grade Class Field Trip Parent Information Night is a repeat of the spring meeting we had. Please attend if you were unable to make the meeting in the spring. Monday October 2nd at 7:00 pm.- Larson Cafeteria Seventh grade parents are invited to attend an information meeting about the Seventh grade Chicago Trip. On Saturday April 28th and Sunday April 29th students and chaperones will explore this exciting city! The adventure includes the Adler Planetarium, Shedds Aquarium, Union Pier, a Medieval Times Dinner Theater, The Museum of Science and Industry and Gino’s Pizza. Health Care Aide Positions

HELP WANTED--- The Troy School District Special Education Department, contracted through PESG, is looking for compassionate individuals who would like to work with our special needs students in a school setting, providing assistance in classrooms and other school settings including implementation of behavior management strategies. Work Year, Hours & Compensation: $12.80 per hour, 6.5 hours per day, school days only A Health Care Aide’s job functions include: • Working with students who require one-to-one attention and supervision • Recognize the importance of fostering the independence of the student • Provide the necessary support to ensure the health and safety of the student • Duties will take place in programs for students with cognitive impairments and/or autism • Represent the District and PESG in a professional manner by performing all job functions at a satisfactory or above level • Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in positive, supportive, and cooperative ways • Performs other related duties, including special projects, as required or requested, consistent with reasonable expectations with the contracted position For additional information, or to apply, please click the link below.

Food Service is Hiring!

The Troy Schools Food Service Department, which is contracted by the Sodexo Corporation, is seeking friendly people willing to fill various vacancies within the Food Service Department that are responsible for providing lunches to the students of the Troy School District. Not to worry if you haven’t had previous experience, as “on the job” training will be available! Depending on the school, the hours would primarily be during the middle of the day, and would range from 3 to 4 hours a day. Box Tops for Education!

Welcome back everyone, especially to the incoming 6th graders and new families! While stocking up on school supplies and snacks for the kids, keep an eye out for those Box Tops for Education. They're everywhere and worth a lot to our school. Send in your unexpired, neatly trimmed Box Tops with your student anytime. They can drop it in the collection box located just inside the Media Center. I'll give periodic reminders and announcements about bonus opportunities.
