The Omaha men's basketball team went 2-0 in non-conference play last week, extending its win streak to three games. On Thursday, the Mavericks used a second-half surge to defeat UMKC 80-75 on the road. Marcus Tyus led the way with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting alongside three rebounds and four assists. Zach Jackson (15) and Daniel Norl (10) also scored in double figures, while Tre'Shawn Thurman pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds with eight points.

On Sunday, outlasted Cal State Fullerton in overtime for a 102-96 win. Two Mavericks had double-doubles -- Tra-Deon Hollins with 20 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds, three steals and a block, as well as Thurman with 15 points, 12 rebounds, an assist and a block. Jackson (19), Tyus (16) and Mitch Hahn (18) also finished in double figures.


Sparked by a third-quarter surge, the Omaha women's basketball team upended Florida A&M 70-50 Sunday afternoon. Mikaela Shaw had a game-high 22 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Michaela Dapprich chipped in 16 points and eight boards, and Ellie Brecht had 13 points.

Mikaela Shaw was named Summit League Player of the Week on Monday.
