AWARDS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

ROBIN LEWIS

Robin Lewis, Human Capital Development, M.S. alumna, Senior Manager Sales Training, was awarded the Alfasigma USA TOP Award for her leadership and efforts in the 2021 Cycle meetings. Robin is being recognized for her contribution to the 2021 Cycle Meetings (January and July) that had a significant impact on results as driven by the sales force.

DR. COURTNEY TAYLOR

Dr. Courtney Taylor, Human Capital Development, Ph.D. alumna, was recently selected to serve as Deputy Director for Strategy and Programs for Accelerate Mississippi. 

JOYCE POWELL

Joyce Powell, Assistant to the Director for the School of Leadership, was selected for the 30th class of local business and community leaders to participate in its Leadership Gulf Coast program. Leadership Gulf Coast, a division of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Inc., is a program designed to prepare the area's current and potential leaders for the future. The program's goal is to understand real problems and opportunities in the local community and to create a communication network between present and emerging leaders dedicated to the improvement of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

DR. ROBERT J. THOMPSON

Dr. Robert J. Thompson, Human Capital Development, Ph.D. alumnus (2016), was a recipient of the McCool Breakthrough Award during the 2021 International Council on Hotel Restaurant and Institutional Education Conference held July 26 – 30, 2021.

COURTNEY ISGETT

Congratulations to Courtney Isgett, a current Human Capital Development (Instructional Technology and Design), Ph.D. student, for being selected as one of 17 recipients of the Graduate Competitive Travels Award. The Graduate School and the Vice President for Research jointly sponsor the Graduate Competitive Travel Awards program. This competition is held twice annually to support student travel to national or international conferences or exhibitions to present their research or creative project. A total of $10,000 was awarded to the winners who will travel during the fall semester.

TAMMY RUTLAND

Tammy Rutland, current Human Capital Development, Ph.D. student, has been promoted to the position of Staff Officer II with the Mississippi Department of Human Services, Division of Early Childhood Care and Development (DECCD) and is a part of the Leadership Team. She will supervise a team of training coordinators who provide training and technical assistance to early childhood providers across the Southern region of Mississippi. Tammy represents the DECCD agency at local, state, and national meetings and conferences and will assist in determining major policy and provide input into significant agency operations.

DR. ANESA DAVIS

Dr. Anesa Davis, current Human Capital Development, Ph.D. student, was promoted to Senior Manager in HR Business Partner supporting the Power Generation Group with Entergy in Houston, TX.

ABBY BRENNAN

Abby is a senior Honors College student majoring in Industrial Engineering Technology. She recently began an internship with Nolan Transportation Group, working in the Carrier Sales division. She is researching organizational development for millennial leaders as part of her thesis under the advisement of Dr. Heather Annulis.

DR. HEATHER ANNULIS

Dr. Heather Annulis was named the Interim Director of the School of Leadership.

PUBLICATIONS AND PRESENTATIONS

DR. HOLLY BURKETT

Dr. Holly Burkett, Human Capital Development, Ph.D. alumna, presented a session titled “Boost Your Change Immunity with a Resilient Learning Organization” for the 2021 ATD International Conference in Salt Lake City, August 29th – September 1st, 2021.

Dr. Burkett was also invited to serve as a Pro Bono consultant for nonprofit leaders during the Taproot 9/11 National Day of Service Speed Consulting event, held in partnership with American Express on September 10th, 2021.

DR. JOHN HUBBARD

Dr. John Hubbard, Human Capital Development, Ph.D. alumnus, recently co-authored, "Urban Development Change as a Response to Information Technology" published in the August 12th, 2021, edition of Journal of Strategic Innovation and Sustainability. https://doi.org/10.33423/jsis.v16i3

GLENN TERRY

Glenn Terry, MAcc, CPA, CISA, who currently serves as a Visting Instructor of Accounting in the School of Leadership, recently presented at the Joint Convention of the Mississippi Association of Public Accountants and the Tennessee Association of Accountants conference. Mr. Terry's topics included: CPE Accounting Updates, Fraud Prevention, Auditing Updates, Big Data, and Economic and Washing Tax Updates.

Mr. Terry also led a 2021 Accounting and Auditing Updated technical presentation at the Mississippi Association of Public Accountants Annual Accounting Conference.

DR. GREG BRADLEY

Dr. Greg Bradley, who serves as Associate Teaching Professor of Management in the School of Leadership, recently published an article "Development and validation of a casino service quality scale: A holistic approach" in the Tourism Management Journal. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.tourman.2021.104419

CORY WICKER

Cory Wicker, a current Human Capital Development Ph.D. student, facilitated a workshop for the Academy of Human Resource Development Program Excellence Network (PEN) Graduate Student Development on July 30th. The topic was "Turning a Class Paper into an AHRD Conference Proposal."
