Creative Clubs at CMIPCS

Creative Minds International Public Charter School is pleased to offer an array of Creative Clubs for our students in Pre-School through 8th Grade. These enrichment opportunities are designed to complement our academic program during the Extended Creative Day progproviding opportunities for students to explore new activities and develop their talents and interests.

Clubs begin the week of August 20th, 2018

Below, you will find the full PS to 8th Grade club schedule and descriptions of clubs offered this semester. To sign up for clubs, please visit CMI.MYBIGCOMMERCE.COM to register. All purchases require a store account to be processed--please allow time to register.

In order to reserve a place in a creative club, you will need to make full payment through CMI's BigCommerce online store.

Club sign-ups will be available from July 27th onwards. Please note, that an account is REQUIRED to complete registration. First time users should register an account ahead of time to expedite check-out.

Refund Policy:

Written notice of cancellation must be submitted before close of business Friday August 31st, 2018, to receive a 50% refund. After August, 31st no refunds will be granted.

Spring Club Lineup PS-4th

Monday Clubs

  • PS-KG (Early/Late Sections*) Tippi Jam Tippi Jam is a high-energy dance class designed to keep boys and girls engaged in continual motion while they learn the basic elements of dance, including positions and terminology. Tippi Jam will end in a recital for parents and the Aftercare community! (Tippi Toes® Dance) $255/$125
  • PS-KG Art Club Students will have the opportunity to explore many mediums of artistic production. Students will experiment with mediums such as paint, pastels, and pencil. Students will learn about the creative process and elements of design while having the opportunity to express themselves. (Sandra Nance) $255/$125
  • 1st-4th Art Club Students will have the opportunity to explore many mediums of artistic production. Students will experiment with mediums such as paint, pastels, and pencil.   • 1st-4th STEM Club is an excellent hands-on activity-based curriculum. Students learn basic concepts about energy, light, motion and more. This class does not use games to engage kids in engineering/science concepts. Students learn thinking and reasoning skills needed for success. This club encourages children to apply what they know about science and math through hands-on activities that are based on real-world technologies and problems, helping them see how disciplines like math and science are relevant to their lives.   • 1st-4th Coding/Computer Programming Club (Beginner*) Students signing up for this class will be assessed by instructors on their first day and divided by ability level as they learn fundamentals or advanced coding and computer programming skills. The goal of the class is to mix play with programming. A typical class will begin with an introduction to programming by the class acting out stories that they will later program on the computer.   • 5th-8th Cooking Club Cooking Club is a fun experience. Students will get the chance to cook a variety of dishes from different countries around the world, exploring other cultures through the medium of cuisine. (Valerie Love) $255/$125 -- This club meets Monday's and Thursday's
  • 5th-8th Chess Club Students will play chess and hold club tournaments. Students will not only be able to interact with one another through learning the game, but will be able to coach each other into becoming better chess players--together. If your child has any interest in playing chess, this club is for them. (Shaka Greene) $255/$125 -- This club meets Monday's and Friday's
  • 5th-8th Cross-Country Club Students will learn proper form and techniques for running. Students will be trained in sprint running, long distance running, relays, long jump, and much more. (There will be track meets held through the duration of the club for parents to attend). (Reggie Walker) $255/$125 -- This club meets Monday's and Thursday's

Tuesday Clubs

  • PS-KG STEAM Club will highlight science, technology, engineering, art, and math in different creative and fun activities. Students will engage in Project based learning to stimulate their current and future curiosities in STEAM. (Samantha Carter, Eddie Bennett) $255/$125 -- Meets Tuesday's and Thursday's
  • 1st-4th Cooking Club Cooking Club is a fun experience. Students will get the chance to cook all sorts of dishes from all different countries around the world, from ones you have had before to ones you have never even heard of. (Valerie Love) $255/$125

Student members will select topics, research and gather information, write articles, and help edit articles before copies go to print. Wednesday Clubs

  • PS-KG Yoga Club Classes will be a mixture of learning yoga postures, yoga infused games, team building, and strength/balance routines. All children will be moving their bodies and de-stressing after a day of learning in school. Young Yogis will also engage in meditative and calming exercises including singing and breathing meditation when their bodies are tired from yoga practice. Lively and fun filled yoga awaits!   • PS-KG Baking Club Students in this club will be making new and different desserts and, of course, enjoying them, sharing them, donating them to residence on campus for various holidays. (Jamaica Gainey) $255/$125
  • 1st-4th POM Starts Club by Tippi Toes® Pom PRO Dance by Tippi Toes® is a class designed to introduce dancers age 6-9 years to the basics of proper jazz dance technique while including the sharp synchronized movements and visual effects of working with pom poms! Class curriculum will include a proper warm-up and stretching, jazz, kickline, turn, leap, jump and Pom technique. Dancers will receive poms w/ enrollment package & the opportunity to participate in one off site performance opportunity! (Tippi Toes® Dance) $255/$125
  • 1st-4th Photography Club Photography offers students a fantastic STEM-based journey through digital, black and white photography and a GoPro camcorder, allowing them to express their creativity and learn math and science concepts through photography. Students translate concepts in geometry, symmetry, light, optics and fractions into an art form. Exploration of light and chemistry concepts allow students to see the relevance of these concepts to real life. Students also learn to create awesome videos with the GoPro camcorder and work in a timeline to create a finished product. (Reginald Pearlman) $255/$125
  • 1st-4th Soccer Club Students will learn the fundamental skills of the game of soccer, followed by fun drills and games to help develop strong teamwork skills. (There will be a soccer games schedule through the duration of the club for parents to attend.)(Rashida Walker) $255/$125
  • 3rd-5th Girls on the Run Club Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth-development program for girls in 3rd-5th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. (Lindsay Elcano, Reggie Walker, Kelly Vergamini) $255/$125
  • 5th-8th Basketball Club Students will learn the fundamental skills of the game of basketball, followed by fun drills and games to help develop strong teamwork skills.   • PS-KG STEAM Club will highlight science, technology, engineering, art, and math in different creative and fun activities.   • PS-KG Drama Club From storytelling to set design, students in Drama Club will be exposed to a variety of drama and theatrical elements that foster their imagination. Through collaboration, they will engage in the creative process by creating original performances that will be presented at the end of the semester. $255/$125
  • 1st-4th Chess Club Students will play chess and hold club tournaments. Students will not only be able to interact with one another through learning the game, but will be able to coach each other into becoming better chess players.   • 1st-4th International Dance Club Students will be participating in various dance styles throughout the semester spending two weeks on each dancing style. Throughout this club, students will gain an appreciation for the history of dance in multiple cultures across the globe and have a new ability to bust out international dance moves.   • 1st-4th Basketball Club Students will learn the fundamental skills of the game of basketball, followed by fun drills and games to help develop strong teamwork skills.   • 5th-8th CYCLE (Creative,Young, Collective, Leaders, Emerge) Students across grade bands will have an opportunity to mentor, lead, provide service, explore and learn life skills through this club. Students will sip teas, have healthy snacks and talk about topics important to them. Most importantly, they will have opportunities to socially engage with one another, off campus sometimes, allowing them to put their new found skills to good use in stewardship of our community!
