"Adopting Peake Road" Stratford academy

On Saturday, Jan. 19, the Ecology Club, led by Upper School Science Teacher Mrs. Candace Bridges, organized “Peake Road Adopt-A-Spot Litter Clean-Up”. This event was open to any Upper School student in Stratford’s Ecology Club. The clean-up was conducted by Mrs. Bridges, Upper School Assistant Principal Mrs. Theresa Ferrari, and 11 Upper School students: Senior, Lucas Brewer, Sophomore, Maddie Fackler, Junior, Lucy Boswell, Sophomore, Jocelyn Tang, Senior, Savannah Hendricks, Senior, Andrew Moring, Sophomore, Om Patel, Freshman, Ayush Patel, Senior, Carson Dorsey, Senior, Griffin Matson,and Freshman, Esha Panse. The crew borrowed pick up supplies such as, trash bags, safety vests, and trash grabbers, from the Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful office in downtown Macon.

Mrs. Bridges said she wanted to clean up the area in front of Stratford.

The club contacted “Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful," which organizes “Adopt-A-Spot”. The organization only officially allows the adopting of a spot, after an initial clean-up is completed.

Now that the Ecology club has completed its duty, signs will be placed on either side of Peake Road, stating that Stratford has now adopted it. The students split up and collected litter near Amstar and Stratford and gathered and end result of 19 trash bags of litter and artificial Christmas trees.
