A swarm of bees has been spotted in Newbury's Market Place this morning (Tuesday). They made their home on some bikes chained up in the sun before they were collected by a local bee-keeper, Vikki Wimbridge from Kintbury, at lunchtime. She estimated there were around 2,000 bees in the swarm, which she described as fairly small.
This comes just days after a swarm was released in Burghfield when a hive accidentally broke open while it was being moved. A number of residents were stung several times, including a three year old boy, who required hospital treatment.
