Week of Wellbeing - September 15th - 20th September, 2019

Week of Worship is a big week in the Spiritual life of our school each year!!

Week of Worship is a week within the schooling year where we run Chapels every morning as we focus and grow together in our school community on the foundations of our christian heritage and faith.

This year we are embarking on new concept of participation with the school community that we are calling 'Week of Wellbeing’.

This 'Week of Wellbeing' is a week where we as a school community focus on the mental, physical, social and emotional health and wellbeing of our students, staff and school community. There are many different opportunities for your child/children and yourself to be involved in the many different actives taking place on the campus during next week. This week will also give you the opportunity to have conversation around the theme of Wellbeing with your child/children in your home context.

Wahroonga Adventist School supports Legacy Week

Students from our School have raised more than $3000 for Legacy last week.

To support Legacy Week (September 1-7) the school held a mufti day and lunch food stall, which raised over $1500, and sold Legacy badges and pens, which raised a further $1800.

An initiative of the school’s Student Representative Council, the activities were all about supporting the community and teaching the students about the importance of Legacy, a charity helping Australian families suffering after the injury or death of a spouse or parent during or after their defence force service.

Year 7 Hike - Friday 6th September, 2019

Last Friday the Year 7's set out on a hike. On the day, we travelled to opposite ends of the Bobbin Head Track. We began walking after a quick safety brief from Mr Dunne. After only a couple of minutes, it was quickly evident that Lachlan Clague’s long legs were superior to ours. We forged on in groups while stopping every half hour to discover the name of a certain tree or to look down ‘snake holes’. After 5 km of walking, we ran across an impressive bridge and came to our lunch spot. A well-deserved lunch later, we continued on Warrimoo Track. This half was shorter, but unfortunately much steeper and rockier. We stopped at a neat little alcove of rock on the riverbank and the teachers took quite a lot of photos. We then made quick work of the remaining 2 km and came to the Sphinx Memorial as our finish line. Everyone admitted that throughout the day they all had a moment of happiness or a time where they felt like they accomplished something. Everyone should be commended and congratulated. The teachers deserve a thank you as well.

Meals With Love

Just wanted to share what typically goes in a Meals with Love bag for a family of 4-6...

  • Soup and bread (garlic bread or rolls)
  • Garden salad (provided by Canteen)
  • Main meal (curry and rice, bolognese or casserole)
  • Fruit salad (provided by Canteen)
  • Dessert/lunchbox snack (brownies, muffins or cake)

As you can see, a full meal is provided, which takes lots of preparation. The more contributions from our school community, the more meals we can provide. Meals have been provided to families affected by illness or with family members in hospital or families with new babies.

Any contribution is greatly appreciated; it all adds up! And of course if you know a family in need; please drop us a line!
